It's fascinating. I suggest "How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs" by Collier and Manley for a quick intro or Middle Egyptian by James P Allen for more depth. If you want to write hieroglyphs, there's "Ancient Egyptian Calligraphy" by H.G. Fischer.
